Topic: Species library

Hi guys,

Anyone who can help me with making species pages like on naturespot (cf. http://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/sc … a-bolete)? I like it more then the quick species maps because it contains information about the species itself. But I have no idea where to start... Can someone help me or do I contact someone from naturespot? Any ideas are welcome.

Re: Species library

Hi Dieter
The NatureSpot site uses Drupal 6 with the CCK module. As you are using Drupal 7 you can create a content type called Species Account, then add fields to it for the various bits of text you want to be able to store so you don't need the CCK module as this functionality is now in core. Then, use the Page Manager module with Panels to override the view of that content type. More recently I've also found the Display Suite module useful for controlling page layouts. This is all standard Drupal stuff rather than Indicia specific. You might then want to add some blocks (to your Panels or Display Suite layout) containing some PHP that outputs the distribution map - this would of course be Indicia specific and I could get you some examples once you get that far.
Best wishes
