Re: Multiple recorders through xl import?

Have I misread the help files, or is it possible to import multiple recorders for an observation through the import wizard?

Going through the wizard - doesnt seem to offer an opportunity to match multiple recorders for an observation - yet the help files suggests that recorders seperated by commas (or other) will be read seperately.

Please someone tell me its possible.

Yes it is possible. The import wizard automatically splits them out for you and presents them as a list so you have to match against each one separately. Does that make sense?

Sense...

Sure it makes sense - it just doesnt do it.

The import wizard does not want to seperate out the individuals - but leaves them as multiple entries.

See screen dump.

I've imposed consistent formatting - 'comma, single spaces' between names and the other commas replaced with underscores in an attempt to solve things.

To no avail.

?

Addendum - another installation of R6 seems to do what its supposed to do and seperate out the individuals... 'shrug'

Re: Multiple recorders through xl import?

Are the imports you're trying identical or different? It could be for format of the names Recorder doesn't recognise. I don't think it likes backward (e.g. Roper, C.) names, although I could be wrong. Or perhaps it is multiple backwards names it doesn't like (e.g. Roper, .C; Grose, M). Not sure without further testing.

Re: Multiple recorders through xl import?

Sally R has pointed out that the Determiner column (which was the same as the Observer column) was being read at the same time as the Observer column - and hence the matches were agglomerating and confusing things.

My fault.

But yes it clearly likes to have the names in a forward direction.

Im getting there. Beginning to realise how much cleaning needs to be done before I expose it to Recorder.

Thanks for thoughts.
