Topic: Report designer problem (or maybe not?)
Not sure what to make of this one, but maybe someone else will have a clue.
I have a standard report template for species lists (.tpl file). I run a report which lists distinct species for a site, apply the template to create the list, then export the result as a series of .wmf files. These are then inserted into a word document (with all margins set to 0cm)for saving as pdf and printing. I tried a few different approaches & decided this was best to provide the style of output I wanted.
In the past the output wmfs would appear in word, slightly smaller than required, but it was easy to expand them to fit the page.
Then we upgraded to Office 2010, after which the wmfs appeared in Word already fitting the page, this was a good thing as it saved time.
At some point recently, either after migrating our db to SQL 2012, or after a Recorder update the behaviour changed again. Now when I insert the wmfs they are no longer have the same aspect ratio as the word document and are not fitted to the page. I can expand them, but they leave a wide margin at the bottom.
Page setup in Word is A4 and so is the paper size in report designer, but the wmf output is not A4, it is shorter.
I know questions about report designer rarely get answers, but can anyone suggest what has happened here?
Before anyone says it, I know the better solution would be to dispense with report designer altogether (it never worked properly anyway) and manage the whole thing from word, or crystal reports or something, but at the moment I do not have time.
