Topic: Error when accessing base map for layer

When I have selected a location, in the location window, and am in editing mode if I click the arrow next to the grid reference box and click 'Base Map Sheet' the following error appears: Error Code-5: file access denied- C:\ Program Data\ Recorder 6\ Map Files\ Map User Sheet.gsf

any idea how I can change the location the Recorder looks for maps in? (assuming that the issue here is that it can't find the map base layers?

It is possible that you don't have permission to open the folder where the Map files are held. They normally end up in c:\programdata\recorder6\map files

You can either move the files elsewhere and change the registry  to point to the new Location, or change permission on the existing Map File folder to be able to read/write .

Hi - thank you for replying!

I should have access, I'll double check with our IT here and see if I don't.

How can I change the registry? I'm not that up on IT I'm afraid...

If you can run Regedit and look in 
HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Dorset Software Settings , Map File Path. This will show the folder where your map files are held. I suspect that you may not have read/write permissions on this folder.

If you can't run Regedit then ask your IT to check for you.
