Topic: Taxa Selection in Report Wizard - above Family level

When I want to produce a species report using the Report Wizard and I enter a family e.g. Oedemeridae in Taxa Selection, all the oedemerid records are brought up, as expected. Why does this not work with Superfamilies, e.g Tenebrionoidea? Entering Tenebrionoidea in Taxa Selection brings up zero records, which is not what I expected to happen. I'm on the latest R6 software and dictionary versions.

Re: Taxa Selection in Report Wizard - above Family level

Prior to the introduction of the Organism table some of the intermediate levels would return results, but these were never accurate, and a major source of complaint because of the untrustworthy  results.  It wasn't even accurate for families. Recorder 6 could only report on the basis of information in the dictionaries.   For example if a new species was added to the list of additional names, it would not have been included when reporting on the family or any other level.  The Organism table now includes a structure for Phylum, Class, Order and  Family which is complete so that now a species added in any dictionary will be included.

Version 6.23 of R6 will warn if you try and expand on a level which is not supported.

Ideally some of the intermediate levels are needed in the Organism table, and this is something Chris is considering.
