Topic: Synonyms (how to...?)

Hi,

For some reason the synonyms do not appear in my dynamic 1 form. In the form, the settings are on all names available but still no synonyms. Common names do appear. What do I forget because I know it's possible in Irecord.

And what's the main difference between lumping and making a synonym? And when you lump, is it automatic a synonym in the warehouse or do you have to add it manual to the preffered name?

Hi Dieter
First, the differences between creating a taxon with synonyms, and lumping 2 taxa together, is really that the former can be used to create a snapshot of a taxonomy at a point in time, whereas the latter is to do with tracking changes to a taxonomy over time. If you lump 2 taxa together then you should get 1 preferred name and 1 synonym, though I think this feature is only used on 1 project that I know of.

Have you checked that the missing synonyms are in the cache_taxon_searchterms table?

I will have a look. Do I understand it well if you lump that it's automatic a synonym? In mycology, synonyms change very often with the molecular era.
