This could suggest that your dictionary has somehow got out of step. Prior to version 4 of the upgrade kit scripts had to be processed in defined batches. If this wasn't done then some scripts didn't run and the data was not updated. What you are seeing ay be the knock on effect of this . If you can let me have a backup copy of your database I can generate a set of dictionary upgrade files to bring your dictionary up po date.
I've also had a problem with dictionary updates and it failed on 2H. Installed recorder on new laptop, upgraded to version 6.22 and restored database with no problems. Dictionary updates were fine until 2H and recorder tells me current dictionary is 2G. A colleague has had exactly same problem when he installed Recorder on his PC.
I have looked at several system with this problem and in all cases it has been that the dictionary has got out of step at some point. Most likely, because two upgrades were run together, when they should have been run separately. I can probably fix 2H so that it will run and do what it can, but the only long terms solution is for me to generate a special update for you which will fix the dictionary issues specifically for your database. To do this I will need a copy of your database. A backup copy can be supplied via dropbox on a DVD or memory stick. What you will get back is a standard dictionary upgrade which will bring your dictionary into line with the master version. You can continue to use Recorder in the normal way.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'll do a backup of my database and send it to you. I can post this on a memory stick or attempt to use dropbox but don't have an account as yet. Do I post to the Littlefield consultancy address?

Did you get the email with the update ? If so is all Ok ?
Mike
No email or update received to date. I checked Junk/spam folders also and no sign of it there either.

I have tried again. Let me know if it works this time.

Many thanks for your efforts, upgrade worked well and am now running version 6.22.2.74 with dictionary 00000032. Initial panic when I lost all data and couldn't enter from recording card soon solved by rebuilding indices.
Thanks again
Neil
We have been updating the recorder dictionary we were some way behind and ran all the batches from 00000024,25 through to 0000002W,2X,2Y,2Z we encounter an issue (described below) with batch 0000002F,2G,2H a batch which we notice other people have had problems with. We would like to know if there is a way to check that this update has been successsfull? We have now rebuilt all the Taxons in order once after completing all updates; the MSBIAS apears in the Taxon Dictionary Browser. Was our issue resolved by the 0000002i,2j,2k,2l,2m upgrade? This is how the issue displayed itself.
I’ve ran all the updates in and all were successful, apart from one, there was a problem with the batch 0000002F,2G,2H which took about an hour to run, I checked that the DB changes had been made however at the end when it’s completed the screen hung and the pop up that normally displays ‘Recorder Upgrade Complete’ didn’t display so I had to end the screen through Task Manager.
Thanks
Check in R6 through Help/About Recorder 6 to see which dictionary upgrade is the last to fully complete and let me know. I need to know which specific update is causing the problem.
Hi,
we ran all the dictionary upgrades in batches in order the problem occurred with the batch containing 2h we continued with the other batches they all proceeded with no issues; the help window indicates
Dictionary Version: 0000002Z
All this was done in the test environment so can be rolled back.
I think all is well. Whatever happened with 0000002H occurred after the update had completed. The last dictionary update is held in the settings table and this is only updated after the update has completed. If 0000002H had failed then 0000002I would not have run. The problem others have had shows up as an error in running the SQL and if this happens the settings table would not be updated.
