Topic: Error in species dictionary

Not sure if this should be posted here or under Species Dictionary, but I'm guessing it is a Recorder error, not NHM Species Dictionary

Just done a record selecting "Coleoptera", "Diptera" & "Hymenoptera" and discovered in the resultant report there was a record for Camellia (NHMSYS0020823384), there is obviously a hierarchy problem here

Re: Error in species dictionary

Further more, my search outlined above DID NOT return the correct information - many beetle species were not in the resultant report including Melolontha (cockchafer)

The search for 'Coleoptera' only reported 218 species (c2000 records), whereas according to our most recent atlas, there are 1,833 species in Staffordshire - A search for "All Taxa on List" on the "BEETLES" preferred list reports 18,500+ records

I think the most recent dictionary update was seriously flawed!

Re: Error in species dictionary

I think there is a problem in the Coleoptera heirarchy, my 218 spp were almost exclusively Carabids and water beetles

Re: Error in species dictionary

It is a Dictionary issues. Coleoptera appears twice in the Organism table so what you get depends on which one you start with. Fix is included in Dictionary Upgrade 0000002I which also fixes the problems with searching and display on  the List of Additional Names . See
