Topic: The UK Master List

Hi all,

I'm just investigating using the Indicia Test Warehouse for which Jim kindly sent me account details. However, I've noticed that the NBN UK Master List is missing loads of common marine species. Is this just because it's a test database so is a subset of the full list, or should I not rely on using this list for marine recording if/when we move to the live warehouse?

Many thanks,

Steve

Re: The UK Master List

Hi

I recall the test warehouse having a subset of the full list and a quick count returns 71114 names there compared to 287468  on the live warehouse which seems to confirm that.

Also, for information, the UK Master List is organised in a hierarchical manner but the warehouse website interface is not capable of drilling down through the hierarchy. If you visit http://testwarehouse.indicia.org.uk/ind … st/edit/34 you will see it lists 29611 entries (and only 1305 on warehouse1). This is just a reflection of the top level of the hierarchy.

I think you could test whether a species is present in the UK Master List of the live warehouse by trying to see if it is recognised when you attempt to enter it at http://www.brc.ac.uk/irecord/enter-casual-record

Re: The UK Master List

That's correct. Just to add, if there is a real need to test against the full UKSI list on the test warehouse then let me know and I'll update the test warehouse for you (when I get a free hour or two!).
Cheers
