Re: Recorder 6 EOleException during data Import

Hi,

I'm currently trying to import a few thousand records and have divided them into 5 separate excel spreedsheets, each with roughly 5000 records.  Three of these have imported successfully but the others are throwing the following exception error just after i choose the template for the import at the start of the process.

Exception occurred in application Recorder 6 at 29/06/2006 08:35:52.
Version : 6.6.8.59

Exception path:
EOleException : Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal

Has anyone seen this error before?

If I continue with the import it tells me it is only imported about half the records expected (2500 approx.).  I'm assuming it's related to my data but I can't see how the data in the two unsuccessful records is any different from the data that has imported without a hitch!

Any ideas welcomed

Thanks,
Catherine :-)

Re: Recorder 6 EOleException during data Import

Hi Catherine

I know this post is from a while ago but I noticed no-one had responded to it.

Did you manage to import the data in the end?

On the off chance you are still having problems with it I could look into it for you. I would need at least one of the problem files you mention to try to reproduce it though.

Let me know if you need any further help

Kind Regards,

Re: Recorder 6 EOleException during data Import

Hi Sarah,

Thanks for your reply.

I got it fixed eventually :).  The only reason I can see for the error in some files and not in others was the length of some strings I was trying to import in the Comment field.

For these imports I concatenated a number of fields into the Comment field (to include items that can't be imported into any other fields).  Once I had converted some of the text to short hand the imports seemed to run ok.

Thanks again,

Catherine
