Topic: Determine my Site ID and Security key

PC just died, paperwork from 2002 long ago lost (left behind when I "retired" and untraceable).
So I've tried the resellers, the JNCC contact and phone calls to JNCC.
Just the Site ID - no key.
So how do I install a new copy of Recorder 6 that can read and write my data (backed up to a second R6 install on a laptop) when I cannot obtain the Security key?

Use site id LC000435 and DA90 The database contains the site id so once you have restored the datbase,  this  id is replaced. Don't use this id for any other purpose.

Re: Determine my Site ID and Security key

When you say your data is backed up to a second R6 install on a laptop do you mean it was imported into another copy of Recorder 6 or do you mean you have a backup done in R6 via Tools – Database Tools – Backup Database? If it was imported into another copy, you will find the Site ID in the first 8 characters of the keys of any data that was originally input into the other system. The Show Metadata icon displays the keys - see http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=18062#p18062 .

If you have a backup (.bak), restoring it will make the R6 system’s Site Id the one from the backup. This appears as the Copy Identifier on the Welcome screen (Help – Summary Info). Once you know the Site Id, JNCC or your reseller should be able to supply the security or verification key.
