Topic: Submit sightings tab problem

Hi,

I am new to Instant Indicia and have been using the tutorials so far which have been very helpful, and have successfully created the 'Submit Sightings', 'My Images' and 'My Records' features. However, none of these are appearing on the Primary Links menu, the one exception being the 'Forums' page.

I have not been able to find anything in the Instant Indicia tutorial to help me with this problem, and have no idea if I have missed something whilst setting up these features, or if it's something as simple as ticking a box?

Thanks for the help!
Jordan

When you edit each of your pages, have you edited the "menu link title" under "menu settings" near the top of the page? If not then the page won't appear in the menu. Try that and see if that solves it.

Re: Submit sightings tab problem

Unfortunately I am experiencing further problems with the 'Submit Sightings' feature:

1. After uploading an image for a new record, there is no way to add information into the other tabs, such as the Georeferencing tool or general comments, as well as access to the tab to submit the new record.

2. There are also general problems moving from the What, Where and Other Info tabs, as I cannot move freely from each of these without having entered the essential information in the corresponding field. This is a bit of a nuisance when it comes to trying to navigate easily around the page.

3. After a record has been submitted, the message appears stating it has been successfully submitted. However, when I move to the 'My Records' page and search for these it implies that there have been no records submitted.

Any ideas on how to get around these issues?

Re: Submit sightings tab problem

Hi Jordan,

Just going back to your original question about adding items to menus, that is a function of the Drupal Content Management System which Instant Indicia exploits. You will find a lot of online and printed documentation about Drupal which is not repeated in the Instant Indicia documentation.

Regarding your subsequent questions, the easiest to answer is number 2. What you are describing is the designed behaviour and is intended to help ensure data is entered correctly. The simple work around, if you really don't like it, would be to uncheck the option for client-side validation. The upshot of that is that you will only have errors highlighted after attempting to submit a form and waiting for a response from the server.

Regarding number 3, are your submitted records appearing in the warehouse under Entered Data > Samples? This will tell you whether the problem is with the data entry or the reporting.

Regarding 1, you could switch from a tabbed interface to an all-on-one-page interface in the form options and see how that works. You could also try switching browsers as the way photo upload work is dependent on browser and browser plugins.

In any event, if you are using the download of Instant Indicia 0.8.2 and continue to encounter problems my advice always comes round to updating the iForm module to the latest development version. There are known bugs in the 0.8.2 version which are fixed in the development version.

Re: Submit sightings tab problem

Hi Jim,

Thank you for the advice regarding my previous issues, I have taken your advice and managed to get the 'Submit Sightings' page to operate properly.

However, I now face the problem of the error message 'Unable to find report .xml' appearing on a blank 'My Records' page. I changed the Form to 'Report Map' just to preview the different options, when this happened. I changed the Form back to 'Report Grid' but this does not seem to have solved the problem. Is there any simple explanation as to why I cannot get the 'My Records' page to work as before?

Regards,
Jordan

Re: Submit sightings tab problem

Sounds to me like you no longer have a report selected in the report sttings > report name. Try something like Occurrences by Survey or  Occurrences by Taxon Group.
