Topic: Another Windows 7 Problem

Hi,

I have spent a bit of time looking at the posts in the forum regarding running Recorder 6 on Windows 7 and have not found anything that relates directly to our problem.

I will try and keep the as brief as possible.....

We had someone come to our offices to install and setup Recorder 6, this did not go as smoothly as we hoped, but I just let them get on with it.

Standalone install/SQLE2008

Recorder would not run..... I was told it HAD TO be "run as" on Windows 7 PC's, this is not great as we are using a standard Windows domain and users do not have admin rights.
As I was busy on another project at the time, i made a quick .bat file and used savecred/ to automatically "run As" each time the bat file was run. (i know, not a great idea, but it was meant to be a temp fix)

This looked fine until another user logged onto the PC and tried to run Recorder, of course the "run as" .bat required the domain admins password to be entered
This was done, but recorder then failed to start with the error listed below.

"The DTD Path setting is missing or incorrect. Recorder is not installed properly and cannot start."

I then logged back into the PC as the normal user and ran Recorder 6, it now gives the same error and will not start, although it worked before?

"The DTD Path setting is missing or incorrect. Recorder is not installed properly and cannot start."

I am not able to get the information that I need to contact the person that originally install this for us, at the member of staff if currently out of the office, so Im hoping someone on here can help........

I have attached the last error.txt file to this post

If you require any other information regarding this problem, please do not hesitate to ask, as I need to get this resolved ASAP

Thanks in advance

Re: Another Windows 7 Problem

There is a recorder system check program that may diagnose/solve the problem (sounds like a registty setting error); it's on the forum somewhere but I can't find it. I have a local copy if you want me to to email it over or Mike should be able to supply.
