Topic: Does Recorder recognise the concept of survey events?

I am trying to upload boat based survey data from Excel into Recorder 6, with each survey taking place on a different date and in different locations. For ease of reading, I want each survey to be separate from one another within the Surveys hierachy,  so that all species seen in that survey and only that survey are listed within that survey event, but Recorder does not recognise these as different survey events, unless each survey is manually given a different location name. Is there a less time consuming way of achieving this, for example, is there a way of having a survey event name column on the speadsheet being uploaded, that Recorder will recognise as a survey event.

If I have understood this correctly you can resolve this by using the Survey Event Comment field in the import wizard. This should force Recorder to create Survey Events as required.

Re: Does Recorder recognise the concept of survey events?

What location information are you supplying for each of these different locations? To be valid records each must have at least one of a grid ref, a location (site) or location_name, any of which should trigger the creation of a new survey event. Also since you say that the dates are different, this should trigger different events to be created.

Are you sure you are not confusing Survey and Survey event (as Recorder understands those terms)?
