Topic: New Install of an existing Recorder 6 system

We are having a new Windows server installed later this month. I would like to know if there is a 'simple' way to reinstall our copy of Recorder - I know about detaching the data and reattaching it on the new system, but is there a one step method of installing 6.18.1 or do I need to install the copy off our CD (which is 6.15.4) and update it via the various downloads from the JNCC website

Re: New Install of an existing Recorder 6 system

I'll be doing similar shortly on my new server installing clean R6 from v6.17.2 and upgrading to v.6.18.1. My current R6 and NBNData.mdb are v6.18.1 and 0000001Q so I will just update R6 from v6.17.2 to v.6.18.1 then detach my NBNData and attach it to the new instance. In theory that should all that needs to be done - unless someone knows different?

Version 6.17 is available at www.Recorder6.info/Network.zip or www.Recorder6.info/Standalone.zip We suggest you install this version and not an older version. You can use these as you already have a site id and security key.

Thanks Mike, successfully downloaded - I'll let you know how I get on when we change servers!

Re: New Install of an existing Recorder 6 system

Well, the time has come and the new install is happening - Recorder files and DB installed without problem, but I cannot attach our existing data, it states the version is too high (I'm chasing our support because I think they've put an old version of SQL Server on the machine!)

I am having problems uninstalling the Workstation copies - on running uninstall, it gets to the requester with the arrow pointing at 'Addins' and hangs at that point, I left one workstation for over 30 mins and it didn't get any further - I cannot get Recorder to run on the workstations hence my need to uninstall and re-install

Re: New Install of an existing Recorder 6 system

I have discovered I think I should have uninstalled the Workstations before removing the old server!!, but for anyone else, I have found a workaround:

1) Run the WorkstationSetup.exe - this will run without error, although Recorder will not run at the end of it
2) THEN go to Control Panel and uninstall the Workstation Record, the uninstall will now run
3) Rerun the WorkstationSetup.exe - when this is complete, Recorder should run
