Topic: Recorder 6 OS Map Default Directory

Does anyone know if I can change the default directory into which the OS maps are installed.

I am running Win 7 and Recorder is installed onto the 'D' drive, however it has installed the maps into 'C:\ProgramData\Recorder 6'. My 'C' drive does not have a great deal of spare space so I would like to move them.

I cannot find a registry entry for it and a symlink doesn't work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Recorder 6 OS Map Default Directory

They can be anywhere as long as you have read/write permissions on the folder.  Copy them (not move)  to the folder you require. Then  if you have Access or the SQL Management tools  you change them directly in the Map Sheet table. Otherwise delete the entries by right clicking on them and reinstall  via the Map menu - add background map. Find the gsf file then change the name to  match the file (eg SU48).  SW and NE can be ignored, but select the cut in and cut out.  If you have lots of them the database change can be done with a batch update, but we would need to know where they have been moved to. Don't delete from the original folder until you are happy that they are working from the new location

Re: Recorder 6 OS Map Default Directory

I have moved the files and changed the entries in the Map Sheet table, however if the map tiles are not present in the default directory they do not display in the map window. If I copy them back, leaving the Map Sheet table pointing to the new position they then display correctly.

Is there something else that needs changing apart from the Map Sheet table to get them to display correctly in the mapping window?

Thanks

Re: Recorder 6 OS Map Default Directory

Sorry. Yes the Map file path in the registry.  HKEY CURRENT USER/Software/Dorset Software/Recorder 6/Settings

On  a 64 bit machine try searching for Dorset Software.

Re: Recorder 6 OS Map Default Directory

Thanks a lot.

The combination of the registry entries and the modification to the database table has worked.
