Topic: Error when Importing NBN.Zip to version 6.15.4

Hi

We have received some data as a Recorder 6 NBN zipped file, where custodianship has been transferred to the our site ID.

We did an initial import into a test database and there were no problems.  The survey was completely imported, there were no invalid items.  The survey is read only as this is not the database that custodianship was transferred to.

We then imported the same zipped file to the live database that custodianship was to be transferred to.  There were no invalid items.  When we clicked on Import Latest and Do Import, it ran through importing the Survey & Locations but as soon as it hit the Survey Events we got an unhandled error and the system crashed.  We were wonder if there is an issue with the data in Survey Events or is it more likely to be something else (as the import was fine with the other database).  We don't know how transfer of custodianship works and wondered if this could effect anything.

We are now a bit stuck as although we can see read only data we cannot edit it anywhere.  How do we transfer custodianship to either our alternate database or back to the contractors?

Anybody else had similar issues or know what the issue may be?

Changing the custodian  changes the data in the Custodian field on the system doing the export and also in the exported file. I can't see any reason why it should have any effect on the import.  What was the unhandled error ?

There is a batch update which will change custodianship, but it will need looking at to see if it will do exactly what is required in this situation.  It will probably be worth trying to find out what is wrong with the import before going down this route.

Is your test database and  live database both on the same R6 version ?

Re: Error when Importing NBN.Zip to version 6.15.4

Thank you for sending me the error message, the most useful part of which was the exception message: Error occurred transferring records for SQLSERVER_SURVEY_EVENT into the main database. There are a number of causes of this error but I think the most likely in your case, given that the import worked on another database, will be permissions. See http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=16806#p16806 . Note that the preceding posts in the same topic list other possible causes.
