Re: Stretched map

Have a look at this map screenshot as taken from a laptop with a widescreen display (click to enlarge).

Note how it is stretched horizontally. My own screen is widescreen and doesn't stretch like this, so I'm a little confused as to why it should be doing it on the laptop.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: Stretched map

Its not something I'm an expert on, but laptop displays identify the dots per inch so that applications can automatically scale properly.  Presumably the screen resolution in use on this laptop is not reporting the dpi accurately causing the map to scale differently in the X & Y direction.  Just a guess!

Re: Stretched map

I've belatedley seen this posting.

I have the same problem on my widescreen laptop. What is interesting as well is that it does not occur with other applications - for example, in MapInfo a grid-square is still square. This suggests a problem with Recorder - but then why does it not occur with Charles' other widescreen?

I've tried various resolution setiings to no avail.

Re: Stretched map

I've got a new widescreen laptop here that I'm about to bring into action. I'll let you know if I experience similar problems there.

Re: Stretched map

Right, I've just tested this on our new laptop and its not stretching the map. The Laptop this time is a Dell Precision M90 with an nVidia Quadro 1500M. The other one (the one with the stretched screen) is a Dell Inspiron 9300 with an ATI Mobility Radeon X300. My Computer that I'm sitting at now, which also has a widescreen display, is a Dell Dimension 9150 and has an ATI Radeon X600 in it.

Alan, what is the make and what display chipset does your laptop have?
