Re: String or binary data would be truncated. .

Hello,

I am trying to import an Excel spreadsheet using the import wizard in Recorder 6.
I am stuck on the following error;

Exception occurred in application Recorder 6 at 02/07/2007 19:10:48.
Version : 6.7.2.77

Exception path:
EOleException : String or binary data would be truncated
Blah blah.

What does this mean and how can I mend it?

Thank you, best wishes,

Re: String or binary data would be truncated. .

I can't be 100% sure, but my guess is that one of the spreadsheet columns has a large amount of text in it and exceeds some predetermined limit in the import wizard (or the library code it links to).

I'm assuming excel does not give an error when you open the spreadsheet. Use the column format tool in excel to widen the columns to make the data fit. Then scan down to see if any are really long.

Hope this helps.

I had a feeling this problem rang a bell...

:)

I've not checked to see if this has been fixed in 6.10, but issues related to column width should have been.
