Re: Possible problems with MS Vista/R2002

On a message group relating to MapInfo I have come across a story that Access databases may be seriously corrupted if opened on a computer running MS Vista. (more details at http://groups.google.com/group/mapinfo-l/browse_thread/thread/4ba6fd7000be124f?hl=en )

I was wondering if this was likely to be an issue for anyone using Recorder 2002 and thinking of upgrading to Vista

Re: Possible problems with MS Vista/R2002

It looks like it would only be a problem in a networked situation where 2 computers try to connect to an MDB hosted on the Vista machine. If your NBNDATA.MDB is hosted on a Windows XP machine or anything other than Vista, then the problem won't occur; according to KB935370 it only happens if the MDB is hosted on a Vista machine. If you're not networking, then the problem won't occur. Also, the problem won't occur if you're using Recorder 6.

There's more info on the problem here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=935370

A hotfix which resolves the problem is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935366/
