Re: Email backup

How can I backup everything in Outlook Express for an easy restore after reinstalling Windows?

Re: Email backup

In Outlook you can take a copy of outlook.pst which on my system is in C:\Documents and Settings\Sally\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. If I want a copy of my e-mails when I go away on business I simply copy this file to my laptop where I have Outlook installed although not as a live system. I presume you will be able to do something similar in Outlook Express.

Re: Email backup

On a Recorder related note, purely as an observation/tip. Are readers aware that it is possible to drag and drop a single email message into a Windows explorer folder and then use the "Sources External references" to create a link to that file.
So if Joe Bloggs sends you records periodically by email you can read his correspondence directly from Recorder just by double-clicking the reference.
There's some useful stuff on handling email files on the TechTrax site at http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/pub0 … .asp?ID=81

Re: Email backup

Darwyn - now that is useful. I find quite a few of my sources are emails, especially for single species records.
