Re: DMAP & AditLink for flexible, powerful distribution mapping

If you're looking for distribution mapping capabilities beyond that which Recorder can offer, I'd recommend giving DMAP along with AditLink a look. You can export data from Recorder to DMAP directly, but AditLink gives a greater degree of flexibility.

We use full blown ArcGIS here, but I'm considering getting DMAP as a quick way of producing distribution maps.

We have added 'Virtual Earth' as an extra output format from AditLink
(Google Earth was already supported)

Re: DMAP & AditLink for flexible, powerful distribution mapping

Hi

Just a quick update on AditLink

Thanks to input (and loan of test data) from the British Lichen Society, AditLink now makes a better job of supporting 'Preferred Names' when exporting to DMAP.

Speed can still be an issue with large data sets (about 40 'Recorder 6' records per second), so we will be revisiting the code sometime soon.
If anyone has a large data set that is not too confidential, we would welcome the chance to use it for testing.

In the meantime, you can download a free demo version of AditLink via:
