Re: Export Filters

Hi,
Is it possible to create an Export Filter from a Rucksack?
Cheers,

Re: Export Filters

When the Rucksack window is active, you can select Tools - Export data... from the menu to produce an export file containing all the items in the Rucksack lists other than the Taxon and Biotope lists (these contain "system supplied" items which are not normally exported because the recipient should already have them.

Or you can create a report using the Wizard using the Rucksack and other criteria and then export the result.  If you want to do this open the Rucksack and then run the Report wizard. At the Taxon Selection at the  end of the list of Check Lists you will find the options to use the Rucksack (or expanded Rucksack) for your report.

Re: Export Filters

Hi Mike,

I must be missing something. With the rucksack open, when I go to Tools and Export Data, I just get a message "No data is available to Export".
The point of the exercise is to export for the Gateway. The wizzard doesn't seem to produce the required fields and I cant find a way to incorporate a rucksack into a Filter.

Cheers,

Dave

Re: Export Filters

For a gateway export you need to install the NBN Export Addin, which is available at .

http://jncc.defra.gov.uk/Files/Rec6_NBNExchangeAddin.zip

Once installed you can then use the Rucksack in the  Report Wizard (as described in para 2 above) to select the records for the taxa in the Rucksack. The only field your report need is   Obs_Key from the the list of Observation attributes. When you have the report choose Export data and then use the dropdown to choose NBN Exchange  format. This should generate the files you need for the gateway. This will include the data in the correct format and a meta data file.

Re: Export Filters

Hi,

Finally succeeded after advice from Sally & Mike. Used the Rucksack with the Wizard and exported the results via the NBN Exchange addin. Straightforward process, but the addin tells you that there are invalid records but doesn’t tell you why or which ones. It then freezes half-way through the extraction process for no apparent reason. I eventually tracked this down to a problem with dates. For some reason we have dates of “unknown” which the addin obviously doesn’t like. The end result , however, is data extracted using a rucksack and in NBN Exchange format. I’ve run the file through the NBN Record Cleaner to validate as well.

Thanks for your help,

Dave
