Re: Dictionary Upgrade

Hello,
I've installed Recorder on a new machine and with all updates I'm now on version 6.14.5.218. Then I started upgrading the taxon dictionary. I got as far as version 2. Then the process complains with the message:

Error occurred running script 0000000003.sql. The error is described as: DELETE statement conflicted with COLUMN REFRENCE constraint 'FK_TAXON_VERSION'. The conflict occurred in database 'NBNData', table 'TAXON_FACT", column 'TAXON_VERSION_KEY'

What can I do?  Was it wrong to update first the software and then the dictionary?

Thanks for any help,
Wolfgang

Re: Dictionary Upgrade

What version was the installation disk you used? The latest is v6.15.4d. As a general rule, it is not a good idea to use very old versions for new installations. I have found that old versions won’t install on some PCs. Also, old versions will have MSDE on them and it would be better to use SQL Server Express 2005 or 2008 – see http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=10334#p10334 . Note that using the version of SQL Server Express 2005 that is on the Recorder 6 installation disks causes problems – see http://forums.nbn.org.uk/viewtopic.php?pid=9557#p9557 . It would be best to obtain a more up to date version from your reseller. Will you be transferring a database to the new installation? If so, what version is that?

Re: Dictionary Upgrade

Hello Sally,
yes I used an old version of Recorder (6.6.8). And updated from there. Recorder itself seemed to be properly installed then. So I will try to obtain a newer version. I'm not sure, which version I will transfer data from, because I'm not at that desk at the moment, but it is definitely Recorder6x.

Thanks for your help,
Wolfgang
