The simple task changing the date for a "record" usually involves an inordinate amount of effort. It involves changing the date in at least three places and potentially moving occurrences around so that they sit under a sample of the correct date. So, instead of changing the date in all of these places, I usually create a new record with the correct information and either invalidate or delete the incorrect record. This is actually much easier than fiddling around changing dates where there is the potential to forget to change one and thus create invalid data.

Useful tip Charles.  Ideally I think it would be particularly useful if on clicking on an event or sample there was an option to 'reconstitute' it in an editable recording card format that would allow changes to date, spatial reference etc. to be assigned to all the required tables. I imagine that might be a bit tricky to do - but maybe not.

I've heard this request before now in a round about way. The person was saying that the problem they had with Recorder is that there's a disconnect between adding data and editing it. In other words, you enter the data into a recording form or the record entry dialog, and it get "exploded out all over the place" (meaning the survey hierarchy), making it difficult to locate and browse records. I pointed out that he could enter data directly into the survey hierarchy, which would give a better sense of what was going on, but this didn't appeal. He wished he could see data in the form he entered it.
