Re: Using a newspaper as a reference

I am inputting data into Recorder 6 and was wondering how I reference a newspaper article for a 'document'.  I have references of angling reports in newspapers that I need to link to species records.  What is the best way to do this?

You can allocate documents at sample level  via the Recording card using the douments field in the header . Clicking on the mag glass will bring up the existing dcuments and also give you the opportunity to add new ones.   You can addd references at both sample and taxon occurrence level  via the observation hierarchy using the sources tab.

Normally allocating this sort of document at sample level is what you need to do.

Re: Using a newspaper as a reference

Thank you for this.  I have looked at the 'adding a new document' and just wanted to check what 'type' I should choose.  Would it be 'ephemera' or should I just put 'other'?  I assume also that the author would be the author of that particular newspaper article.

Personally I would use 'Other' for a newsaper article. Depending on what information you have it might be easier to use the name of the paper as the Author. You can then put the title of the article and the author of the article in as the document title. This will put all the articles from the same paper  together.  It also makes it easy to get the data for a particular paper from the report Wizard .
