Re: Multiple problems installing OS Map tiles

I have just received the OS Map Tiles, along with the separate CD for Recorder 6 Map Selector Software upgrade. First mistake was following instructions provided, which said install CD 1, which installs a program for Recorder 2000, which cannot be uninstalled! Other than by deleting the folder.
Second attempt was installing software from Rec 6 Map Selector software upgrade, after Unzipping it. After the program was installed, it asked for my Recorder 6 site ID which I supplied, and tried to register by email. This just resulted in the error message

"Server Execution failed"

I am running Vista with Outlook 2007 installed. Recorder 6 is the standalone version, installed with all standard defaults.
I printed the registration details as a PDF and manually sent an email to maps@nbn.org.uk. Haven't had a reply, so no idea whether this is OK or not.

I tried to re-run the program, and got the error message "Recorder not properly installed or set-up, can't find site ID". which is not true, as Recorder 6 is working fine.
I have tried running the batch file to relocate the Access database. I tried this and just got the error message, after entering the SQL Server SA password

Setup failed to create the linked Access database due to the following error, Access is denied. This is a minor issue and will not effect Recorder functionality.

How do I get the NBN Map Browser to work properly under Vista? At present the only way I can get it to run is to re-install it and re-enter the registration details.

Re: Multiple problems installing OS Map tiles

I suggest you try running the application as Administrataor. To do this open the Map Tile software by right clicking on it and selecting run as administrator.

The Map Tile software is not part of Recorder and we have no access to the code to investigate the issues or improve things. However,  if running as administrator doesn't help then I will run some tests using Vista to see if we can suggest  a way around the problems.

Re: Multiple problems installing OS Map tiles

Thank you that helped, and allowed me to run the program normally. However, it doesn't allow me to send the order via email. I have printed the order as PDF, and have manually sent that by email to the maps email address. Hopefully this is OK.

Re: Multiple problems installing OS Map tiles

This should be fine. Chase up the NBN if you don't hear in a day or two.  Not sure about the email issue, but suspect it is possibly something to do with the security features in Vista. I will see if I can duplicate the problem.
