Re: Taxon search in Recorder 2002

I am having problems entering taxon data via a recording card where the taxon is not already on the list. When I do a search for the item it will search only using the current dictionary.

I have the same problem if the search is done by methods other than via recording card.

I have checked that search is set to “unrestricted”.

I have removed Recorder, gone back to a restore point prior to the original installation and re-installed to no avail.

Can anyone suggest what may be the cause please and hopefully offer a solution.

Thanks

Brian, welcome to the forum. Have you rebuilt your indexes? To do this select Tools > Database tools > Rebuild... (there are three options). I'd recommend rebuilding all three. If this doesn't work, I'd suggest giving your reseller a call. Who did you buy Recorder from?

Rebuilding indexes did not have the desired effect. I'm not sure where the original Recorder 2000 came from as it was purchased centrally. Will have to do some digging.
The update CD came direct from JNCC.

I think that I may have worked out where I went wrong. I upgraded directly from the version installed from the CD (which I assume is 2.3.1) to 2.3.78. Will uninstall and upgrade to 2.3.65 then to 2.3.78 and see what this does for me.

Uninstalling and re-installing achieved nothing. Does anyone else have any ideas please?

Re: Taxon search in Recorder 2002

Brian, I would highly recommend giving one of the JNCC Approved Recorder Experts a call to see if they can help. They are listed here:

http://www.recordersoftware.org/buying.htm

As an individual user, Richard Weddle, Mike Weideli or Sally Rankin are your best bets as they offer very affordable support packages compared to the the two larger companies (Dorset and exeGesIS). Just give them a ring to see if they can help; they usually can.
