Re: Import Wizard - Preffered Lists not assigned completely

I'm not sure if this is a feature an error or my brain. I've noticed this behaviour on several occasions but was too occupied with imports to take it too seriously.

When I assign species to the preferred lists not all are assigned with duplicates being found.

They could be found as duplicates within the preferred lists I guess with there being 2 Lepidoptera [Still not sure why that is so] and possibly others then that could be why. However if I go through the preferred lists one by one many of these disappear, perhaps because of the above reason.

So why are there more than one species of the same name in the preferred lists?

What other reason for not matching them could there be?

It's just a little irritating to pick all preferred lists only to have to go through all of them one at a time anyway. I guess it works first time for many but I have mixed species datasets. If it was for those sets that are a duplicate for some reason then I would only have to do those to save time.

Thanks

Well I can confirm that if I search the Fungi & Lichens separately then more are added though it still complains of duplicates. So I'm not sure why a preferred list contains duplicate species entries if it only contains the preferred name.
Choosing Fish also adds more even though I assume the preferred FISH list is actually searched as part of the All Preferred search, but is it?

What should one conclude?

Re: Import Wizard - Preffered Lists not assigned completely

Tony,

not sure if this will be the case for you, but one thing that I think can cause this within a list is the existence of sub-species/variants/forms etc as the name of the lower taxa would match against a search for the species name.
