Re: ..upload to the NBN Gateway using R6?

I've spent the last couple of days going through the NBN DataProvider pack & trying to get familiar with all this entails. However, there's a wee problem I'm not seeing: Which export format from R6 is best to send for upload?

The NBN Exchange Format Validator has so far rejected everything that R6 has exported (xml, .xls, etc).. From following the exchange format document, is it better to create a report that contains all these attributes instead? if so is there a custom-built report we could get that includes all of this in a good order?

As I've got a about a month left here, I'd like to get this working.

PS. have just tried "Contribute to scheme" which, as I forget, doesn't run & produces error below:

Re: ..upload to the NBN Gateway using R6?

Hi Rob,

You need to contact Andy Brewer at the NBN regarding contributions. There was an NBN Transfer Format add-in available for Recorder that added an extra export type, but it doesn't work in R6. If you do investigate further, do let us know if an R6 compatible version is available.

Cheers,

Charles

Charles/Rob
There is indeed an addin but is now rather out of date. Andy B is redrafting the exchange format standard and will complete this by Christmas. Stuart will then rewrite the addin during January (he will actually be checking through the rest of the addins too) and we will have the revised version available by the end of that month.

Re: ..upload to the NBN Gateway using R6?

Sorry to squeeze a side-issue into this thread but I think I might have a related problem that Stuart might wish to consider when rewriting the addin.
I use a USB pocket storage device as the source of an .xml file for importing; after all imports are finished I then try to eject the device using the "Unplug or Eject Hardware" facility and get the error message "The device .... cannot be stopped right now. etc. ...". Meaning I have to shut down and reboot my PC to remove the device.
Could it be that there is a "#Close" command (or equivalent) for the .xml file which has been omitted from the import routine which is causing the file to remain open.
Perhaps it's just me - has anyone else this problem?

Re: ..upload to the NBN Gateway using R6?

I just pull the device out. Unless you have write caching enabled, it shouldn't cause any problems. I never use that "unplug or eject" feature and have never had any problems. Don't hold me to that though!
