Re: Survey tag won't delete

I tried to delete a Survey tag through the R6 interface.

The tag, however, remained in the Observation hierarchy.

The two Surveys previously contained in the tag were moved out of the tag folder icon.

Examining the tables through a linked MS Access database, it was clear that some of the table entries were removed, others were not.

The references in Survey_tag were removed.

The references in Concept, Concept_lineage and Term were not removed.

In the course of exploring the tables, I discovered that the linked Access database that was provided with R6 and which I have used for the past 2-3 years has no reference to the Concept_lineage table at all.  I assume that was added at some later update.

Two questions:

How can I delete the tag safely and completely?

How can I set up the linked Access database again to include all the current tables (I prefer using Access to SQL Mgmt Toolkit for examining, querying and minor editing)?

Re: Survey tag won't delete

To re-link your Access database you could try the tool at
http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-5005

Otherwise you can create your own ODBC link.

The Survey tag is changes/deleted from Tools/Enhanced Term List. They are in available terms under tags.

Re: Survey tag won't delete

Thanks for that quick reply, Mike.  The tag is now deleted.  I had expected that when I chose delete it in the Observations hierarchy that would be it gone completely, hence my confusion.

I will have a go at the relinking tomorrow.

Re: Survey tag won't delete

I have just tried to relink the database with the tool, but get the message that the System\DBPlugin.exe_ has stopped working (and it has).

I have checked that R6 is in the default location, though the SQL database for some reason was installed in C:\Temp\Temp Recorder DB Location, and I have just left it there.

Trying to link manually through a new Access database fails as well, as the SQL database is not recognised when I try to identify the ODBC source.

I am using a standalone on Vista.

Any suggestions will be welcome.
