Re: Re-creating users after moving Recorder 6

I have recently had to move Recorder 6 from one PC to another. I copied the NBNData file to the new PC. All the records seem fine but I can only log on as the default user. I want to re-create the user accounts that existed on the original PC but, when trying to create a new user witin Recorder, I get the following error message: "Unable to insert this item as it references an item which does not exist". Can anyone advise? I am not a regular Recorder user but support the PCs on which it runs.

Many thanks.

Re: Re-creating users after moving Recorder 6

Did you install the same version of Recorder that you were using on the old  machine. At first glance this looks like you may have a database which is not in line with the version of the R6 software installed. It will probably be easier to help if you can explain the process you went through to move the data and the versions of the sofware used. If you open help from the main recorder menu then click on About Recorder 6 it will show you the version of the software  which belongs with the database - is this  the version you installed  on the new machine ?

Mike, thank you very much. I re-visit the PC concerned today so will check the Recorder versions & get back to you.

Re: Re-creating users after moving Recorder 6

Mike, hi again. All seems to be OK now. I took a backup of Recorder 6 on the original PC & then did a restore from that backup on the new PC. Hey presto, the original list of users was restored. Thanks for your help.
