Re: Import Taxon Look up Aberent Behaviour

So I have to set the check-list to search on the import wizard so that when I do a look up it will remain on that list consistently.

However when I have a group of species that all need setting to the same taxon reference I have to search for it every time. Why because the list resets itself to the top of the hierarchy every time. This does not seem to happen on the other lookup windows such as names. Why? There is no logical reason to not leave it where it was. What if you are importing data from one family and you are quite capable of choosing the names rather than doing a search?

Re: Import Taxon Look up Aberent Behaviour

More trouble in dictionary land;

I've been able to add species that are currently missing from the dictionaries. This morning I added a few I had a note of and proceeded to run the import again. A few hours later I can get to matching species. I was expecting it to just remember all the matches but it only seems [can't be sure] to remember once I have made one search. I proceeded to make all the searches I think I needed and then went on to match missing items. It had not matched the names I had added this morning. I was able to search for them and add. When it came to a new species however I found I could not return it having just entered it. I could search for it and find it but as soon as I select it the 'return selected' button is disabled!

Not only that but in my frustration in trying to get it to accept my choice I fell foul of my previous comment in that the list returns to the first item in the dictionary in this case Chlorophyta [Phl].

At this point I was reminded that the help? You can delete any matches made by selecting the text in the relevant cell in the 'Recorder Matches' column and pressing the <Delete> key is a lie as it has never worked. In the past I have had to cancel the import, as I am now going to have to do, as it will not accept the species in the dictionary and will not allow me to delete the bogus choice that has been made. Luckily I have years to waste not importing data in to this database? What does one call a database that cannot accept data? Nonobase perhaps, anyway that's what I have so far.

I cannot write the feelings I have for this thing as I'm sure I would be banned.

Re: Import Taxon Look up Aberent Behaviour

Hi Tony,
We are aware of 'refreshing' issues around entering taxa/names then matching them in the IW. I will make sure the details you have provided are also logged.

The 'delete matches' function has been included in 6.15. We have finished building/testing and are now finalising the release.

Best wishes, Mary
