Re: Distribution maps

I have been trying to create a distribution map for Chiroptera. I have been dragging this from the taxon dictionary and selecting all the taxa to be included. The distribution map displays all the relevant data apart from one survey event. If I drag this event onto the distribution map it gets displayed. Or if I select the species(Serotine) it is displayed. As soon as I uncheck these and only have the Chiroptera selection the survey event is not displayed.
I cannot see anything obviously different on this Survey event record? Two questions. Firstly, what sort of criteria does the mapping use to display the distributions. Secondly, any ideas as to why only this one survey event is not being displayed?

Cheers for now

Gary

I suspect your problem is more to do with the species dictionary than a mapping issue.  See the following:

Re: Distribution maps

Hello Alison,

I can see that a problem could exist when doing reporting but I am not sure how that relates to a distribution map. I dragged Chiroptera taxon list by selecting the Bat Conservation Trust list from the taxon dictionary. The problem seems to be that for some reason one of the the survey events/sample is not showing on the map. I have got other events/samples that have got Serotine in them so I presume that there is something different about the event/sample that is not showing. I cannot see anything obvious. It does seem rather strange that when the individual species is dragged onto the map it gets displayed. But the BCT list which includes all UK bat species does not have the same effect. It is probably somehting really obvious but at the moment I cannot see it!

Cheers for now
