Re: Recorder size limit

We are running Recorder 6.13.2.176 on MSDE, with a small network of 3 client machines.  Eventually we will be moving onto SQL, but in the meantime, as our NBNData_Data.MDF file is at 1.79GB, I have been deleting some low priority surveys to create room for more essential data (bearing in mind the 2GB limit).

Yesterday our database contained 605,040 records.  Using the batch update delete tool (the delete survey addin did not work) I removed a single survey of 202,882 records, leaving 402,158 records.

However, on checking the NBNData_Data.MDF file this morning, it still reads 1.79GB.  The file also does not appear to have been written to, as the last modification date is 28 April 2010.  The survey has definitely been removed.

All I would like to do is find out how much space we have left in Recorder as I need to run several dictionary upgrades and would also like to upgrade the database to at least 6.14 / 6.15 before our server move takes place.  Is there another file I should be looking at or could there be another NBNData_Data.MDF file lurking in the background?

Any thoughts appreciated!
Thanks,
Francesca

Re: Recorder size limit

You probably need to 'shrink' the database to  release the space. However, I don't think you are going to save a great deal of space  and the Dictionary upgrade and the move to 6.14 will probably take back most of what you save, if not make the position worse. Upgrading to SQL Server Express is fairly painless and would give you a lot more capacity for records.
