Re: import key-issue

I am a bit troubled by the following: I imported a historical dataset containing determinations of two snails, Radix ovata and Radix peregra. These names are considered to be synonyms of Radix balthica by the preferred Mollusca checklist and they are mapped as such during import.
I expected to find the taxon_list_item_keys of R. ovata and R. peregra in the taxon_determination table (which I think would be the correct way to do) but instead all observations are stored with the item_key of R. balthica, making it impossible (I think) to trace the original identification.
I am probably missing something but can’t figure it out. Thank’s for any help.

Re: import key-issue

Hi Frederic.
When you did the import, did you map them to the Radix balthica entry, or to the original names? If you mapped these 2 names to Radix balthica then in effect you are importing the results of the mapping, i.e. Radix balthica. You should map them to the original names then rely on the dictionary to understand that these are synonyms of the preferred name.
Let me know if that does not make sense.

Re: import key-issue

Hello John,

thank you for replying. I reimported it and mapped it on the original names and now it's OK. I think I mapped it manually the first time by using the search function (which leads you to the preferred name in the list) and then dragging it from the list in the mapping field. Sorry for that :-(
