Re: Location_Designation - End Date

When trying to import NBN data it comes up with some invalid items all to do with start and end dates of location designations:

The End Date must be a valid standard date and it cannot be after today's date of 30/01/2010.

But the end date 16/04/2007 seems ok to me...? Or am I missing something?

Nothing obvious. Are you able to email me a small example that shows this problem?

Re: Location_Designation - End Date

I've noticed with some areas of Recorder that to have an 'End Date' there must be a 'Start date' - Certainly when entering data within Recorder, you cannot have a designation end date without a start date. Similarly, you cannot enter 'Date of Death' for observers if you don't know their date of birth! - this is just silly! Your error could be related to this

Re: Location_Designation - End Date

We have experienced this problem sporadically in data already in recorder in the past. We found that if you edit the item and re-enter the dates and re-save them, the problem goes away. Of course this doesn't help with an import problem, but I suspect it originates in the same validation process.

Seems to me that the only useful validation checks on these dates which apply everywhere in recorder would be 1. are the dates valid and 2. is the end date after the start date. The requirement that a date must not be after today applies in many situations but by no means all.

I can enter a end date for a designation without having a start date (unless, of course, this behaviour is a bug and I shouldn't be able to do that?)
