Re: Filter errors on Location

Darwyn,

Could you post details of exactly what filter you're running to produce this error. Also, how many locations do you have?

Re: Filter errors on Location

Did a resolution to this arise please?

The reason being that I have been doing some importing of data (test at this stage thankfully) from another Recorder 6 and when I go to Display Unchecked records I get the following similar error message and it fails to display any of the taxon occurrences, but will allow me to get down to the level before in the Obs Hierarchy.

Exception occurred in application Recorder 6 at 16/06/2008 15:28:27.

In terms of number of locations, it has 4,169, Names and Addresses: 3,346, Refs.: 405, Surveys: 331, Spp. Obs.: 375,937 and Hab. Obs.: 6,407.

Is it anything to do with the amount of RAM?

Re: Filter errors on Location

Are you using SQL Server 2005? If so it may be a good idea to download the latest service pack:

Hope that helps,

Re: Filter errors on Location

Hi John,

No, this was a standalone install, up to the latest released version, using the MSDE instance.

Graham Hawker at the Thames Valley ERC also has this error when trying to show unchecked items.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Brian

Re: Filter errors on Location

Looks like it might be related to this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288095

Re: Filter errors on Location

Without testing against your data I can't be sure, but there have been improvements made to version 6.13 in this area so hopefully it will be fixed when that is released.

Re: Filter errors on Location

The bit where the MS article syas:

In some cases, SQL Server may actually shutdown as a result of the stack overflow.

Is a bit worrying in terms of the eventual data being on out SQL server instead of the msde standalone version as our membership database is held on the SQL server too. Myabe though this an msde only problem.

Would you recommend us waiting for the new update before pursuing this further John?

Thanks
