Yesterday I upgraded my R6 from 6.13.3.182 to the latest 6.14.4.212. I also upgraded my dictionaries from "E" to "J". Now, everytime I start Recorder I get a Recorder Setup Wizard window which asks me for First Name, Surname, password, confirm password and Automatically create first survey. This is entirely daft. To get into Recorder I am forced to go through this rigmarole, and another Bob Marsh is created in the names table which I can't delete in Recorder - I have to merge this "new" name with myself to get rid of it.

Can anyone advise how I can sort this out??

Hi Bob,

This wizard is supposed to just run the first time you upgrade and open Recorder - as soon as you have filled in your username it should not occur again. This wizard would only appear if you previously used the default user name to login and where no one else is using the system (ie there is only the default user name in the table that relates to log ins). Yes, unfortunately this will create a new name and that most people would have added their name to the names table even if they used the default user login. You should be able to merge the two names into one - in theory this should not make you login again on subsequent entries unless of course you have effectively deleted the one you created in the first time run wizard.

Have you merged the two names and then on opening Recorder you get the wizard again? If that is the case there may be a way round that but in the meantime I suggest you create a memorable fictitous name to fool the wizard and then do not delete this name in the name table.

Thanks for the information Lynn and for replying so promptly.. In the meantime have been able to sort this out with Sally's help. Created new user name (myself) as System Manager, and as you say I was previously using the Default User to log in and no-one else uses the system....................Bob
