Re: Invalid records in exprt from a report

Hi
I used a polygon report output to produce an export for a site. During the export process a pop up warning tells me, "There are invalid records in the data you are about to export." The pop up tells me that the invalid records will not be exported and asks if I want to continue.
I select "yes"  and then an error occurs. I get a different error each time. For example:  "Cannot drop the table '#InvalidKeys'..."  or "There is already an object named '#ExportKeys' in the database"

There is an option to see the invalid records but there is no clue as to what is wrong with them. They include both checked and unchecked records and appear to be the same records each time.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Cheers
David

Re: Invalid records in exprt from a report

If you revalidate the data you are exporting, e.g. select a survey, right click and select Revalidate Record from the pop-up menu that appears (new in V6.13 - see Contents - Tasks - Data validation - Validating data in the Help for more information), you will get a list of the invalid items and why they are invalid. 'View Results' will then let you see the problem items in the observation hierarchy. These items will have to be corrected before you can export them.

Re: Invalid records in exprt from a report

Hey Sally
thanks for the reply to this one too.
I had a look at the revalidation tool. The list of invalid items is a bit cryptic though (things like CI00000600000OCY). I managed to look up the items in question using an Access database linked to Recorder but it was quite time consuming. You mentioned Recorder 6.14 in your other reply. Are there any plans to improve the revalidation tool in this new version, so that item names are shown instead of codes?
Cheers

Re: Invalid records in exprt from a report

Hi David
On the validation results window, you can either click View Results or Save Details. If you click View Results, it will filter the appropriate windows to show just the invalid records, and each item in the hierarchy will have a tooltip that explains the problem. Save Details allows you to save a file to review the problems later by using the Tools >> Load External Filter menu option.
