Re: Apparent lock-up of Recorder 6

I am getting a very annoying lock-up in Recorder 6 as follows:

From the Names & Addresses window select Related Data (don't think it matters which one, but it must be an attribute with no hits!) - after selecting the related data, click on the Recorder 6 window again - when the requester stating 'No records Found' appears, it is BEHIND the Recorder 6 window and cannot be cancelled, so Recorder is effectively locked - I have managed to force it to the front by using the Windows "Show Desktop" icon and the Recorder tab on the bottom bar, flicking between the two eventually makes the Recorder screen expand with the requester at the front, but there is no logic, it took six goes this morning to free it up - unfortunately there is no way to distinguish this problem from a genuine lock-up (which will never clear!)

Hi Craig,

Thanks for reporting this one - it sounds very annoying.
I have logged this and will investigate - if I can reproduce it we will put it forward for fixing (funding provided).

Cheers,
Lynn

Craig,

Evidently, Alt/Tab usually brings hidden dialogues to the fore so that a response can be given (thanks Sally).

Re: Apparent lock-up of Recorder 6

This is a problem that has dogged Recorder for years. I have never been able to reliably reproduce it and yet it fairly frequently happens, especially at the end of large imports. I have tried every possible means of bringing the offending hidden dialog to the fore: Alt-tabbing, clicking other apps, showing the desktop, random click, pressing keys on the keyboard, etc., but nothing consistently works. Sometimes ones of these techniques will work, but mostly they won't.

Re: Apparent lock-up of Recorder 6

Annoying it is but until it can be consistently reproduced it is very difficult to fix. I know it has been raised for Dorset to look at in the past but it was not reproducible. So if anyone finds something that is repeatable please let me know.

Thanks,
Lynn
