Topic: New miner, please

Hello Chris.

May we have this added to UKSI, please?

Phytomyza astrantiae - see http://eol.org/pages/814165/names

and

Homan R,  Phytomyza astrantiae (Hendel, 1924) (Diptera, Agromyzidae) new to Britain, Dipterist's Digest, 16 (new series), 2009, 183-184.

Thanks,

Murdo

Re: New miner, please

Thanks Murdo - I will get onto this after I have updated the JNCC Designatory / SOCC list ... we're currently in a precarious position but once it is sorted out then I will be back to normal jobs :)

Re: New miner, please

OK Chris.  And when you are clear, another one please -

Tranosema carbonellum (Thomson, 1887)

http://eol.org/pages/3783374/names.

I had one identified by Gavin Broad this year, though it was in collections before.

Re: New miner, please

No problem - I haven't managed to slot that in yet but I will do both together when the database is ready to receive them :)

Re: New miner, please

Just found Phytomyza astrantiae Hendel, 1924 [Diptera: Agromyzidae] mining Astrantias in Swanton Abbott in Norfolk (16/06/2014) Chris - so I am another waiting on this one to get into both the online dictionary and into Recorder.

Cheers and thanks for all your efforts mate.

Re: New miner, please

I see there is a new dictionary upgrade, but no annoucement about it ? With the upgrades would it be possible to provide a file with details of new taxa added  ? This would help where taxa have already been added manually.

Re: New miner, please

I attach a file showing new taxa added in the last upgrade. Where  the Taxon_version_Key and the Recommended_taxon_version_key are the same the taxa is a new recommended taxa (ie a new Organism). Where they aren't the same the taxa is a synonym. The recommended key for these may be new or may already be in the system

We should be able to make this something which goes out with all upgrades.

Re: New miner, please

Hi Chris,

Can I ask whether Phytomyza astrantiae Hendel, 1924  (Species, insect - true fly (Diptera)) was ever added to the Dictionary ??   I have just been trying to add the record for Norfolk (mentioned above) and the webservices dictionary still does not seem to recognise the species (no return is provided).

Many thanks.

Re: New miner, please

Thanks Chris BUT - any idea as to why it is still not being returned from the NBN Dictionary when I request it over the webservices ??

Cheers.

Re: New miner, please

Hello Chris.  HYN etc.

Following Steve's bump I am reminded of the T. carbonellum (above) which does not seem to be in the system yet.

Re: New miner, please

Hi Murdo

Apologies for missing that one but it might be better to start a new thread for each new request because it's easier for me to see as new :)  I have just added it:

Tranosema carbonellum (Thomson, 1887)
tvk NHMSYS0021120366

Best wishes & HNY!

Re: New miner, please

Here is Graham's reply - if you are using the SOAP method then that would be the reason that they are still using the old synonymy:

Hello Chris

The REST web services run of the new Gateway which use the UKSI as of 30th October 2014 and so are reasonably up to date.

However if they are still using the SOAP web services these run of the previous version of the NBN Gateway where the UKSI data predates the release of the current NBN Gateway in Oct 2013. These are therefore out of date. The SOAP web services along with the previous Gateway are due to be turned off this April. It is recommended users switch over to using the REST web services.( https://data.nbn.org.uk/Documentation/W … ples/REST/)

Best wishes

Re: New miner, please

Thanks Chris -I'll have a word with our local LRC (rECOrd) and find out what method they use to pull back species names from the Dictionary.  Sounds like RODIS is using the older SOAP services.

Re: New miner, please

Yeah, I use SOAP on the Tachinid Recording Scheme website so I'll have to try the REST system too :)

Re: New miner, please

Chris,

Just to let yourself and Graeme know - I have had a word with rECOrd and they have now shifted our online data entry service (RODIS) over to REST services.   I have just tested it and it is now returning teh species names correctly - Phytomyza astrantiae has gone in without problem.

Thanks for your patience Chris.

Cheers.
