Topic: Designations

This is probably a stupid question, but how is the TAXON_DESIGNATION table populated? There are over 150 species in the Wildlife and Countryside act Schedule 9 dictionary, but only 60 in the TAXON_DESIGNATION table for the same list. Is the one kept up to date but not the other?

Re: Designations

The Taxon Designation table is populated from the list of keys contained in the setting table under TaxDesLists. Mainly this is the  'JNCC collation of taxon designations ' list. This replaced a number of list which used to be used for designations.  We would need to check with JNCC, but I think that not all the WCA designations are included in  the  'JNCC collation of taxon designations ' list (for a good reason I believe).

Re: Designations

It may be a good reason, but without know what has been removed and why, I can't use the R6 species dictionary as the basis for the LRC Wales status list table.

Thanks anyway,
Dave

Re: Designations

You can add in other lists by appending the taxon_List_key(s) to the list in the settings table. Then rebuild Index_Taxon_Designation.

Re: Designations

Ah so basically we should make it clear on ALL our documents that the statues of species are determined BY JNCC and any errors are THEIRS.
