Please can someone help me as I do not understand the replies in this post.
Recorder was working fine in December. I have not updated any dictionaries for a long time.
But now I cannot get into Recorder and the error message is:
The Dictionary Path setting is missing or incorrect. Recorder is not installed properly and cannot start.

You could try this.

1. Put the latest update file in the folder originally used.
2. Also put in a folder which is more convenient to you
3. Open the dictionary update - don't run it
4. The default location of the file will be displayed. Use the dropdown to change this.
5. Change this to the folder you want to use in future
6. Run the update

You can then delete the original default folder. The new one will be used in future.

I am not sure if this will work. If it does it would save the need to change the registry.

I had the self-same problem with the most recent dictionary update! Could you please explain how I access 'Software > Dorset Software > Recorder 6 > Settings' to amend the file-path, bearing in mind I'm not exactly IT-minded?!

I recently ran dictionary updates to bring our Recorder up to date. All went well. Having finished with the files I deleted the folder of dictionary updates. The next time I tried to open Recorder I got the 'dictionary path is missing or incorrect' error and checking the forum saw that restoring the dictionary updates folder would resolve it. I restored the folder and the error went away and I was able to use Recorder. However, because I only expected the folder to be temporary I had opted to download the files to the desktop so now I am stuck with a dictionary updates folder on my desktop. Is there any way to resolve the path error and delete this folder or, at least move it so it is off my desktop? I share a PC so really don't want it there forever. Or will it have to stay until the next dictionary update? Thanks.
