CENTRE MANAGER

The recent establishment of West Wales Biodiversity Information Centre has completed a network of Local Records Centres across the whole of Wales. This achievement is a first for the UK and marks a new era of delivering biodiversity information to decision-makers.  We are looking to recruit a Manager to build upon this momentum and to administer the Centre and to develop a wider network data users and providers.

This Local Record Centre functions as a regional node in the National Biodiversity Network for the three Counties of Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire in south-west Wales. In addition to core information delivery functions, WWBIC is pioneering new roles for an LRC in biodiversity data analysis and dissemination.

We require applications from enthusiastic and committed candidates who are educated to degree level (or equivalent) or higher and who have appropriate experience of small business management.  Please note that this is re-advertisement and previous applicants need not apply. A good knowledge of natural history or biological recording whilst not necessary is desirable. In addition, candidates should possess strong communication and consensus building skills, good IT skills and a commitment to biological recording and wildlife conservation.

The post is offered on a permanent basis. Starting salary will be fixed to local government pay scales SCP
29 – 31 (£23,749 - £25,320 at 2007 levels) depending on experience. Salary may progress over time to
SCP35 (£28,172 at 2007 levels). WWBIC is willing to contribute an additional 7.5% of salary to a stakeholder pension scheme for this post.
