Topic: Incorrect TVK for Vernacular Name

This probelm arose because I was lazy - I entered Cockle because I was too lazy to type Cerastoderma edule.

I typed in Cockle and on the select species list it was displayed as Cockle Spp. Cerastoderma edule and on the species list for the survey it was displayed as Common Cockle (Cerastoderma edule). OK so no problem.

However, when the survey was exported using NBN Data the TVK attached to this record was NHMSYS0021054708 which is the TVK for Cerastoderma glaucum. This came to light only because one of the OHBR recorders was looking at the inter-active map for Cerastoderma glaucum/edule and queried the record.

Mea culpa for being lazy, but the error needs correcting just in case there are other data managers with human frailties.

Thanks

Christine

P.S. I've not checked which TVK is attached to Lagoon Cockle!

Re: Incorrect TVK for Vernacular Name

There does look  like is a dictionary issue with this. The preferred name points to Cerastoderma edule, but Nameserver points the  TVK to C.glaucum.

Re: Incorrect TVK for Vernacular Name

Thanks for spotting that - I have moved "Cockle" to C. edule  :)
